Absurd”, “Six Character in Search of An Author” is a play which distorts the
senses of readers. Luigi Pirandello is renowned figure in Italian literature. Even
though he is a short story writer, novelist he is remarkable in the field of
drama. His works are intellectually decorated which contain the themes of
reality and illusion.

rehearsal of a play. The stage itself is the setting. When the practice going on
other six characters appears on the stage, they are the father, the mother,
step-daughter, the son and the young boy and a little girl. After the
progressive section is complete mislead the reader or the spectator of the
play. The new characters claim that they are enough to carry that drama.
Director permits to play their story. At that time the real actors pretends to
be as spectator. There is mentioned the
importance of play and characters. Character is important. “He cannot die”.
Even though he dies a physical death he is immortal in the minds of spectator.
man who writes, instruments of creation will die, but this creation does not”.
The true love in a relation also shows here, for
instances relation between Mother and Father, father and daughter. Third person’s entry reasons for the collapse
of the family. Father felt loneliness after forcedly sending her with that man
whom she had already an affair. Loneliness also consider as minor theme. There
is also matter of identity crisis.
Initially the character
Son in the play felt problem of identity. He is angry with his mother for left
him. Long time after return of his mother, inquires for his father. He can’t
believe the words of Father and Mother. He announces manager that he is an
“unrealized” character in the play. Pirandello made them as not static identity.
It refers the character of Manager. He himself puzzles “Who he is?” when father
asks him “do you really know who you are?”.
