In to determine their goals, help clients adjust to

In
some sense all helping professions are linked, however none of them are the
same. One common misconception that people often have is that a social worker
and a psychologist is the same and that there is no need for them to be studies
separately. Both occupations have their many similarities however they are not
the same. Social work may be defined as according to The International
Federation of Social Workers as an occupation that promotes social change,
problems solving in human relationships and empowerment and liberation of
people to enhance well-being. Utilising theories of human behaviour and social
systems, social work intervenes at the point where people interact with their
environments. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to
social work. Social work in its various forms addresses the multiple, complex
transactions between people and their environments. Its mission is to all
people to develop their full potential, enrich their lives, and prevent
dysfunctions. Professional social work is focused on problem solving and
change. As such, social workers are change agents in society and in the lives
of the individuals, families and communities they serve. Social work is an
interrelated system of values, theory and practise. An average social worker
plays the role of many such as an advocate, mediator, facilitator, councillor,
case manager, educator, broker, researcher and organizer.

Social
workers work with individuals and families to support them through hard times
and shield powerless people, including children and the elderly. Social workers
work with people of various personalities, disabilities, mind-sets and
backgrounds such the elderly, people with learning disabilities, people with
physical disabilities, people with mental illnesses, young offenders,
non-school attenders, problem children, drug abusers, alcohol abusers homeless
persons and people who are having a hard time coping with a certain situation.
In order to be an effective social worker there are certain duties that one
must carry out: identify people and communities in need of help, assess
clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their
goals, help clients adjust to changes and challenges in their lives, such as
illness, divorce, or unemployment, research, refer, and advocate for community
resources, such as food stamps, childcare, and healthcare to assist and improve
a client’s well-being, respond to crisis situations such as child abuse and
mental health emergencies, follow up with clients to ensure that their
situations have improved, evaluate services provided to ensure that they are
effective and develop, evaluate programs and services to ensure that basic
client needs are met and provide psychotherapy services.

on the other hand can be defined as the study of behaviour and metal processes.
So therefore a psychologist can be defined as a person trained in the use of psychological
methods for helping patients overcome psychological problems and ensure the

to understand yourself and other people, it develops a sound analytic skill set
in the person, it prepares you for basically any profession that you will be interacting
with people and it provides a tool for self-development as it relates to communication
(body language, emotions and language). Much like Social workers, psychologists
work with people of various personalities, disabilities, mind-sets and
backgrounds such the elderly, people with learning disabilities, people with
physical disabilities, people with mental illnesses, young offenders,
non-school attenders, problem children, drug abusers, alcohol abusers homeless
persons and people who are having a hard time coping with a certain situation.

Social
workers and psychologists have numerous of things in common such as they help
to treat the same type of persons with the same type of conditions and issues,
they both work towards the same goal of problems solving and change, they both provide
a tool for one to develop and improve one’s self, and they both also provide
direct services. Despite all these similarities they are not the same, social
work is different because of its practises, a psychologist focuses on
understanding behaviour and explaining it through scientific means, while
social work focuses on understanding the person on a whole and helping them to
achieve their own social goal and psychologist are trained in the functions of
the human’s mind as it relates to mental well-being, a social worker now is
