Prompt 1In , Galway Kinnell’s ” Blackberry Eating”, the poem is a poem which creates a strong metaphoric relationship between the tangible objects of blackberries, and the intangible objects of words. He tries to use the fruit to describe the words he trying to convey or say. He also uses the fruit to get a different meaning and also a deeper meaning of what he trying to say or get across. The speaker of the poem feels a strong attraction to the sensory characteristics or the senses touch, taste, and look but not of what a humans seeing or fell but of blackberries. The attraction he feels at the first of the poem is mainly for blackberries is paralleled in the end by his hungry and attraction to words. The rush the speaker gets out of blackberry eating is paralleled or equal to the enjoyment he finds in thinking about certain words; words in which explains or call up the same sensory or human senses images the blackberries embody. Throughout lines of the poem, the imagery of the blackberries, as well as the speaker’s are strong and explains one another with imagery and it’s also for them to explored. In the final lines of the poem, the speaker reveals the connection between the imagery of the blackberries and the imagery that is created by words. The blackberries become the existing reality or real life situation of the way the speaker views words or sees the words, maybe the way he feels about the words. The author saves the taste of the blackberries in his mouth in much the same way as he saves the sound of certain words on his tongue. In the first line of the poem the speaker states hes love for blackberry eating or for going out to eat blackberries. “I love to go out in late September…” This line makes it clear that the speaker goes out voluntarily or on his own to pick them because of his desire to eat the blackberries. In the next line, the speaker describes the blackberries imagery. “among the fat, overripe, icy, black blackberries. This description of the blackberries does not leave the reader to wonder about how the blackberries look or taste but it’s also gets the reader to see what the blackberry means to him and also how the blackberry means in words. He connects the two because words describe the feelings he has to blackberries and the way they smell, feel, taste. I think the story would be different if it was on something else then blackberries because it’s has such meaning in words but also Connects to the human senses.Prompt 2In “Myth” by Natasha Trethewey, she talks about how one mother tries to live without the loss of a loved one , her mother, she battles trying to accept her mothers death. I draw a connection between her mother being in Erebus to Tretheway’s own acceptance of her mothers death. Being in limbo means that she can not let it go. I don’t think anyone could accept their own mothers death or even any family members. I found it interesting that while “Myth” seemed to be her acceptance of her mother’s death, she still seemed to keep her alive by placing her in a limbo like place. This is a strong contrast that I think was more implied than actually said and often the implied things are the ones with the deepest meaning.Being able to deal with the death of any family members would be hard and stressful. It’s also one of the toughest things to deal with as a human being because I think putting someone you lives with and cared for and loved, in the ground is one of the most difficult things to do because you can’t let them go or forget them, nevertheless let them go every but as the old saying says ” there in a better place now” I think makes it easier and probably better for the person to accept their loss and able to move on and get through their daily lives and maintain through their tough time. the end of the poem, she realizes that her mother lives on in her dreams and that her mother is still with her no matter what and it’s like she lives on in her and as long as she lives her mother will forever be by her side through whatever and she will be there for her. Since her mother lives own in her dreams and in her, this is a symbol for acceptance and leaving her mother in her memories, by doing this she will still remember her mother but will be able to go through life knowing she still alive and there for her in her dreams and in her. The poem being the same thing backwards means that no matter what death is death, meaning that death will always be sad and sorrow but one has to move on through life. Life must go own no matter what happens because the world cannot stop must move on, just as a human after the death of a loved one.
