The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Essay You come home from a long day of school only to get yelled at for not cleaning your room. If this is you this book might just be perfect. In this writing, I will summarize and review the national best selling book, “The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens.” This book contains many resources and strategies to become a highly effective teen through teamwork, prioritizing, goal setting, and much more! This book can really change your outlook and way of life, but only if you allow it to! If you follow the contents of this book, I can assure that you will change for the better. The private victory contains the first three habits which are all about self-improvement through controlling how you react, goal setting and prioritizing. Habit 1: Be Proactive, this habit is all about responding to stimulus in the best way you possibly can. This habit is the foundation to all the other habits as you need to be able to take responsibility for all your actions before you actually begin executing your actions. Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind is all about goal setting and vision. In this habit, you set clear achievable goals and as the book phrases it, “Control your own destiny before someone else does.” Habit 3: Put First Things First is about prioritizing and time management as the name of this habit says you make time for important things before spending time on things that are less important. Obtaining the private victory is time-consuming and challenging but is definitely worth it in the end. Reaching the private victory is not the end as the private victory is only a stepping stone to the challenge that is the public victory. The public victory contains three habits that are about relationship building through teamwork, communication and solution solving. Habit 4: Win-Win is about making sure everyone wins in some way or form. For example, complimenting someone after you’ve won against them, they lost but they probably feel like they’ve won in some way. Habit 5: Seek First To Understand Then To Be Understood is about communication. You first genuinely listen to what others are really saying then as an effect, you are also understood. Habit 6: Synergize is about teamwork; instead of shunning diversity, you try to celebrate diversity and let everyone be heard, this way you can find the best solution to the problem at hand. Habit 7: Sharpen The Saw is an extra habit which is about renewing and rejuvenating yourself in 4 parts- Body, heart, mind, and soul. Maintaining a balance between all of these parts is important in order to become a highly effective teen. Like the private victory, the public victory is hard to achieve but with time you can achieve the public victory and become a highly effective teen.
