These are the words which inspire me to excel in whatever the
tasks I take up and helped me polish my skills. These also facilitated me to
fulfill my desire of efficiently applying my technical abilities to the
problems confronted in my academic career. My interest towards physical
environment started in my 6th grade when my uncle’s car needed to
get repaired. It was a Hindustan Motors Ambassador, a real classic of all time.
He used to get it repaired by himself. I volunteered to help him in fixing the
car. I was fascinated when I inspected what is under the hood, the way the
engine works, the lubricants and the cooling fluids was really mesmerizing. The
way that the components worked in tandem to make the vehicle move was really intriguing
at that time. And my eagerness didn’t stop there, whenever I see a vehicle I use
to open up the hood so that I can learn anything new. This passion and enthusiasm
kept me going through the years of my education.
Through years of my schooling I’ve created an interest in Mathematics
and Sciences which encouraged me to keep the eagerness to learn more still living.
This assisted me to perform well in the engineering entrance exam and I got
into Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering (A) (Affiliated to Jawaharlal
Nehru Technological University Kakinada). I’ve made the best choice in
selecting this institution, it reflects my skills which guided me through the
path I needed. I wish to create a milestone in my chosen field of study as a
pioneer of new ideas and concepts. So, I selected Mechanical Engineering. As a
student, I took this field of study to improve my knowledge and skills in my
areas of interest. I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of
a career as a research professional at an academic and research-oriented organization.
In our country there is a popular annual competition called
SAE BAJA. To this event students have to bring a fabricated automobile which have
to be approved their rulebook. Group of students in our college collectively
participated in this event. I played a role of design and fabricate in which I
have to design all the elements with precision as derived by the calculations.
After months of work we finally been able to submit and explain the analysis
through a presentation to the judging committee. Though we couldn’t make it
through the competition, it has been a great experience to all of us. This has
given us a broad understanding of how the commercial world works through the expos
conducted at the event.
During my senior year, I got an opportunity as an intern at
“Defence Research and Development Organisation” (DRDO), Bengaluru. This was my
first exposure to the industrial and defence environment. It was an incredible
experience. It was here, that I learnt to put out what I have learnt in the
past 3 years to use. I was assigned as a temporary assistant in the designing
department. During this time, I had a very good opportunity to interact with
experienced people involved in manufacturing and testing activities. From whom,
I learnt the importance of planning and implementation of engineering fundamentals.
On site, I witnessed the functioning of each department involved in the quality
check so as to ensure that there are no discrepancies in the final product.
For the final year of engineering everyone has to take a
project. So, I convinced my team mates to do a project different from others. When
others started projects on manufacturing, we chose a project on aerodynamics. This
involves some serious computations for the analysis. Once a design is completed
it took hours of time for every simulation to run. Our project advisor was very
impressed by our results. We were praised by many faculty members.
Despite the fluidity, fast growing technology and collaborating
with new departments and in my field, I’ve always tried in tandem with these by
going through reputed journals. I have always been interested in adapting new
technologies, hence I’ve undergone numerous courses that aid my skills. Most of
the application courses that I’ve taken are self-taught. I have been certified
by SolidWorks as a Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA). I even try to teach
the shortcuts that I implement in making my work easier to others. This desire
to edify others on what I learnt motivated me in conducting workshops and
events to demonstrate the skill on what they learnt.
I learnt the most vital lesson of my life that the fundamental
basis of success is time-management. My participation in extracurricular
activities inspired me to be on the face of organization committee. I was an
organizer of all the technical as well as cultural bodies of our college in
several events. I’ve organized workshops and a National Level Technical Symposium
called VIVAAN in our college. Being in such responsible post, I learnt to build
up assets and reduce liabilities. I also acquired the skills of working in a
group, interacting with my fellow peers and faculty. Moreover, I’ve
participated in many social activities which concern helping people and
cleaning environment. All these experiences have rewarded me with remarkable leadership
qualities, excellent organizing skills, team-working abilities and good
My endeavor is to become a research scholar at an
institution, which aids research work. I intend to pursue a graduate program at
your Institution which will be another step to reach that goal and to realize
my efforts. I have visited the website of your University on the Internet and
took note of the research and development activities that are being carried out
in the field of my interest. I know that it is impossible to have a comprehensive
understanding of many subjects in a lifetime. Hence, I want to master my skill
and have an extensive knowledge of the specialized topics, which fascinated me
in my Engineering course. I believe that your graduate program would help me to
accomplish this objective.
To conclude, I am aware of the effort and perseverance
necessary for the work and I am sure that I possess the requisite inspiration,
intellectual ability and drive justify the demanding graduate program at your Institution.
Given the opportunity, I shall try my best to live up to your standards and not
fall short in my self-confidence.
My knowledge eagerly awaits to be part of your institution.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
